One of the most handsome native, berrying shrubs. Flowers Oct-Dec, pink berries ripen Nov-Apr. Will grow well in reasonable conditions and can be pruned for a compact shape.

Native of the Chatham Islands. One of the most distinctive species of Astelia. Silvery sheen makes it a stunning feature plant for massed planting or special container. Tolerates sun or semi shade. Prefers rich soil and tolerates some dryness. Do not over water.

Similar to Astelia fragrans, but wide olive green leaves with silvery sheen beneath and reddish-purple midribs are more erect and less tapered. Happy in average conditions, but able to withstand permanently wet feet.
