Rimu or Red Pine
Dacrydium cupressinum
One of the most beautiful of NZ native trees. Begins life as a pyramidal tree and matures into a tall, red barked giant with elegant, weeping branches. Slow-growing, needs canopy shelter in early years and wet, rich soils but will tolerate drier conditions when established.
